Many applications for semantic reasoning require efficient access and processing of dynamic information, but reasoning is traditionally performed within the confines of the knowledge base or triple store. Cloudwall provides a framework enabling semantic processing of asynchronous real-time events and federated data outside the direct control of the reasoner for the purpose of consequence management of natural and man-made disasters. A Java Message Service architecture is combined with the JENA Semantic Web Framework and a semantic SOA integration capability, called Wave, to build situation-specific notification plans. This presentation should be of interest to those developing applications of ontological reasoning over dynamic information such as real-time events and federated data. Issues discussed will include:

  • Cloudwall system architecture
  • domain ontology and knowledge representations
  • real-time event processing
  • JENA reasoning
  • SPARQL querying over federated data.

Dr. Richard Hull is Chief Scientist and Vice President of Modus Operandi, Inc. Dr. Hull has extensive experience as a research scientist and software developer.
