We are living through a time of rapid, complex and fundamental change. Individuals and organizations must adept to emerging levels of complex and chaotic systems in order to mature relationships, and to identify and understand significant patterns of change. This case study presentation elaborates on how semantic technology has been applied to provide a more 'machine readable' format for Machine-To-Machine Intelligence and thus taming of Complex Adaptive Systems such as Grid, Internet Multimedia Systems (4G IMS), Financial Services (Risk), The Global Information Grid (DoD) and Trusted Information Assurance and Sharing Communities.

Geoff is the Founder and CEO of m2mi Corporation, an emerging innovative company, which is best known for the ground backing M2M Intelligence technology developed with NASA, Department of Defence and Siemens. Prior to founding m2mi, Geoff was the VP and Head of World-wide Business Development for Pillar Data Systems. Geoff is a 10 year Oracle veteran and was the global lead for Oracle Corporation's Emerging and Advanced Technologies, during which he pioneered EAI, B2B, Grid Computing and Semantic Web in the marketplace in close collaboration with Oracle's top-tier premier customers. Geoff, coined the term and definition "semantic interoperability" at the first Semantic Technology Conference. Prior to Oracle, Geoff was with Aviation Development UK (TEXTRON) for six year during which he served as he IT Manager. Geoff has a ten-year education in Computing, including a BSc(Hons) In Applied Computing with Distinction from Manchester Metropolitan University. Geoff is a member of NASA's Advanced Technology Working Group and the Silicon Valley Space Club. He is also a board member of the DoD sponsored World-Wide Consortium for the Grid (W2Cog).

Dr. Rick Hayes-Roth, a founder of m2mi, is also Professor on Information Sciences at the Naval Postgraduate School. He teaches "the capstone" course on strategies for information superiority. Previously, he was CTO for software at HP. Before that, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of two silicon valley companies, which he co-founded. Dr. Hayes-Roth has been a research director at Rand Corporation and held faculty positions at MIT, Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Hayes-Roth holds a Ph.D. in mathematical psychology and an M.S. in computer and communication sciences from the University of Michigan, and an A.B., with honors, from Harvard University. He has published four books and more than 100 papers. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. He has been on many editorial boards, including IEEE SPECTRUM.
