Alan brings more than 20 years of software development and technical management expertise to his role as Vice President of Product Development at Metatomix. He has played an integral role in the development of the company's advanced semantic technologies and holds patents associated with that work. Over the years Alan has contributed significantly to the development of advanced media technologies offered by both Sun Microsystems and Microsoft. He co-founded and was the President of Anyware Fast, a software consultancy. Anyware Fast was sold to Dimension X, the first Java startup, specializing in virtual reality and interactive multimedia authoring software. At Dimension X, Alan was the Director of Technology until the firm was acquired by Microsoft. As part of the Microsoft Office team, he led the development of Microsoft Vizact 2000, an interactive multimedia authoring product. Alan has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
